  • X-Vir (Entecavir) is administered orally.
  • It comes as either 0.5mg or 1mg strength tablets.
  • Your physician will be responsible for deciding the right dosage.
  • Adults treating hepatitis B who are deemed to be nucleoside therapy naive may be directed to take 0.5mg once per day.
  • However, some patients may be directed to take 1mg per day (usually in cases of mutations of the virus that are resistance to lamivudine or otherwise difficult to treat).
  • Patients must strictly comply with the instructions given by their physician.

Precautions:
  • Serious conditions including hepatomegaly and lactic acidosis are known to have occurred in some patients treated with X-Vir (Entecavir) for their condition.
  • Discuss this with your physician before starting therapy.
  • This medication will not cure the infection, and you will need continuous medical treatment in order to manage your condition.

Dosage and Administration: Entekor 1mg Tablets

· Take entecavir on an empty stomach, at least 2 hours after a meal and at least 2 hours before the next meal.

· Entecavir works best if it is taken at the same time each day.

· Continue to take entecavir even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses.

· If you miss a dose of entecavir, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

 

Side effects: Entekor 1mg Tablets

Dizziness; headache; nausea; tiredness. 

 

Precaution: Entekor 1mg Tablets

An overdose entecavir Unlikely to threaten life, call an emergency room or a poison control center for advice if you suspect that a very large dose of entecavir has been ingested.

There are no restrictions on food, beverages, or activities while taking entecavir otherwise directed by your physician. 

Store: Entekor 1mg Tablets

Store entecavir in the original carton at room temperature, between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep entecavir out of the reach of children and away from pets

If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately: yellowing of the skin or eyes; dark-colored urine; light-colored bowel movements; difficulty breathing; stomach pain or swelling; nausea; vomiting; unusual muscle pain; loss of appetite for at least several days; lack of energy; extreme weakness or tiredness; feeling cold, especially in the arms or legs; dizziness or lightheadedness; or fast or irregular heartbeat.

Do not stop taking Baracavir 0.5mg - entecavir without talking to your doctor. When you stop taking entecavir, your hepatitis may get worse. This is most likely to happen during the first several months after you stop taking entecavir. Take entecavir exactly as directed. Be careful not to miss doses or run out of entecavir.If you experience any of the following symptoms after you stop taking entecavir, call your doctor immediately: extreme tiredness, weakness, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark-colored urine, light-colored bowel movements, or muscle or joint pain.

If you have human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) or acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) that is not being treated with medications and you take entecavir, your HIV infection may become more difficult to treat. Tell your doctor if you have HIV or AIDS or if there is a chance that you have been exposed to HIV. Your doctor may test you for HIV infection before you begin treatment with entecavir and at any time during your treatment if there is a chance that you have been exposed to HIV. Baracavir 0.5mg Entecavir will not treat HIV infection.

Keep all appointments with your doctor and the laboratory before, during, and for a few months after your treatment with entecavir. Your doctor will order certain tests to check your body's response to entecavir during this time.

Entecavir is used to treat long-term hepatitis B infection. Hepatitis B is an infection of the liver caused by the hepatitis B virus. Long-term infection can cause liver damage, rarely liver cancer, and liver failure. Entecavir helps to decrease the amount of hepatitisB virus in your body. It is unknown if this medication lowers your chance of gettingliver cancer or liver damage. Entecavir is an antiviral that belongs to a class of drugs known as hepatitis B virus nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors.

 

Mechanism of action: Entekor 0.5mg Tablets

Entecavir is mainly used to treat chronic hepatitis B infection in adults and children 2 years and older with active viral replication and evidence of active disease.It is also used to prevent HBV reinfection after liver transplant and to treat HIV patients infected with HBV. Entecavir is weakly active against HIV, however it is not recommended for use in HIV-HBV co-infected patients without a fully suppressive anti-HIV regimen as it may select for resistance to lamivudine and emtricitabine in HIV. 

 

Dosage and Administration: Entekor 0.5mg Tablets

· Take entecavir on an empty stomach, at least 2 hours after a meal and at least 2 hours before the next meal.

· Entecavir works best if it is taken at the same time each day.

· Continue to take entecavir even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses.

· If you miss a dose of entecavir, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Dizziness; headache; nausea; tiredness. 

 

Precaution: Entekor 0.5mg Tablets

An overdose entecavir Unlikely to threaten life, call an emergency room or a poison control center for advice if you suspect that a very large dose of entecavir has been ingested.

There are no restrictions on food, beverages, or activities while taking entecavir otherwise directed by your physician. 

Store: Entekor 0.5mg Tablets

Store entecavir in the original carton at room temperature, between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep entecavir out of the reach of children and away from pets
